Oblivion

Well, I resisted it at first.

I must say that when I think of sharing my RPG time with WoW, I get a bit uneasy.  But I finally talked myself into it, or let myself be talked into it.  Dave and Jon were pretty hot for it and I generally trust Jon on somethings and Dave on most things so, I figured why not.  I fired it up and starting playing.   It took me about 3 seconds to realize this was not anything like WoW.  It’s much more immersive, as stories where you’re the primary character can be, and full of detail.  My PC can handle it on max settings, including 4x Anti-aliasing, which makes it just…the best damn looking game I’ve ever seen.  Now I just need to get a sexy monitor.

Anyhow.  Oblivion feels a lot more like an FPS or Action game than a normal RPG.  Honestly, because of the story, beauty and crowbar…errr…sword, it feels like I’m playing Halflife 2.  And that feels good.  This is a game you can really get lost in, and I hope to.  I’ve made Gladiator rank in the Arena already, which was quite fun and a great way to skill/level up and make some good gold.

For more info on how the game is, you can pretty much look on any website that does game reviews and they’ll all say the same thing.  And they’re right. Beautiful, immersive, epic.  But there’s something else too, if you need rails to play a game - a single path with no freedom - this is not your game.  There’s one primary quest in the game. That’s right, one.  After that, it’s do whatever the hell you want.  From my first impression, that’s quite alot.

One thing’s for sure, I’m gonna be a vampire…because I’m a tool like that.
