Last Days of Senior Year
The advice from my mother, “It’s like birthing a baby: Focus, Push and
don’t forget to breathe.”
Ya, that’s about right.

I logged into my WoW account to check out my rank on Leafwind my Druid. The server resets every Tuesday, and rank is awarded based upon the honor system (that’s not the “Take a penny, leave few jar”‘ism but rather a complicated way of measuring the PvP rankings). I wanted to see what my heroic actions had garnered during my 2 hour forray in Alterac Valley last Wednesday. To my shock I wasn’t rank 1 Private, I was rank 2 Corporal and half way to rank 3 Seargent. Freakin A.
Aside from metrics, it was a lot of fun having that large scale PvP experience and it definately felt like I was a pawn of the almighty gamer in a round of WC3, which I think is kind of the idea.
So that’s that.
Ummm, I got a 99% on my Database Management Midterm, thank you Revoked for your tutelage - picking up the slack for what the prof can not do.
Right now Revoked, Dyode and myself are in the midst of planning a restructuring of our home site greyhats.com
It’s complicated and we have some different ideas about what it should be, but I think the end result definately be better than what it currently is and possibly better than my own idea. ![]()
It should be good.
Seattle was a blast and I will elaborate more, but I’m in class at the moment and I don’t know how much longer I can get away with typing as franticly as I do without drawing attention.
I’ll get started and pick up where I leave off.
We went up there on Wednesday morning early and arrived to a Seattle draped in clouds and a chilly low 40’s temperature. I didn’t mind the weather at all, I loved it. It was immensely foggy. So much so that when we got to the condo, the usual view of the Sound was completely obstructed by fog with a max viewable distance of probably 40 yards. I had to convince Sarah that the view was indeed breathtaking and the Sound was exceptionally pretty in the setting and rising sun.
The next day it cleared up and we spent the rest of that day relaxing at the condo. My Sarah beat me in pretty much every game we played, bah. She played her WoW character, Corinda, quite a bit. I think she’s starting to enjoy it.
That night (Thanksgiving) we went to my sisters’ grandparents house for dessert with their family. That was fun, they’re mostly insane and Norwegian but sooo nice.
Details on Friday-Sunday to follow. Classtime.
I think it’s about time that the President and Co. started being a bit more defensive of their actions. Getting walked on by liberal vultures isn’t exactly the way to maintain approval rating. Talk has been thrown around of Bush giving “fireside talks”, like FDR did during WWII, giving a status of the war and reminding us that it is just that - a war.
‘Quitting is Not an Exit Strategy’: “The Rumsfeld defense briefing was a lively one this morning, with Rummy getting raw on a couple of reporters with that ‘don’t get stuck on stupid’ tone he gets sometimes. His comments are all over the cable news networks right now, but ‘quitting is not an exit strategy’ is the quote of the moment.
Rumsfeld also laid out some progress numbers, a good handful of which the AP, to its credit, lists in bullet points:
• U.S. forces have turned over control of about 29 military bases to the Iraqis.
• Baghdad’s once-violent Haifa Street is now more peaceful and under the control of an Iraqi army battalion.
• The Iraqi army has seven division and 31 brigade headquarters in operation, compared with none in July 2004.
• The number of Iraq army battalions ‘in the fight’ has grown to 95, compared to five in August 2004.
On Monday, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad said the number was 100, plus 30 battalions of Iraqi Special Police. Pentagon spokesman Maj. Todd Vician said the 100 total includes five Iraqi special forces battalions.
Four Western peace activists taken hostage in Iraq have been identified. The Jawa Report is, as usual, on top of the story with video translations and identifications:
American Thomas Fox of Clear Brook Virginia, Canadian Harme”

I want one…I don’t want one…I can’t really decide. But since I don’t have $500 rolling around I guess I don’t want one.
Nonetheless, I know that I will own one at some point and hence I made one of those nifty gamercard-thingies (see sidebar).
At the moment, it’s blank and pointless, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look cool and go with the site.
As for photo’s of my engagement, I’m going to wait for my brother in law to catalog all that he took into a single yahoo-slideshow. Then I’ll link that.
Yesterday was insane, today will be just as bad if not worse. Wednesday is similarly hectic with a grade maker/braker of a presentation to give. I have less than a ton of confidence in my group. The good news is, I should have time to get some gaming in during mid-day of Wednesday.
Idea for this blog: I’m going to integrate an RSS feed of my Netflix into the sidebar - somehow - so that way ya’ll (all two of you) can see what I’ve been watching.
Until then:
-The Rufus Wainwright DvD “All I Want” is fantastic. A great portrait of a truly great artist (though he’s somewhat less likeable than I had imagined him).
-Before that we watched The Twilight Zone Disk 1. This compilation of episodes from the classic sci-fi/horror/bizarro show was pretty fun to watch. They did an amazing job cleaning up all the junk on the old reals and the DvD quality is so noticeable that Sarah and I had a hard time believing that it wasn’t episodes from last week filmed in black and white.
-Then there was “Captain Blood” starring Errol Flynn (sp?). Now there’s a classic pirate film! I loved it.
Next up in my queue is JFK (nothing like a conspiracy, eh?) and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I noticed that I had a crazy drama lineup coming through and so I interspersed the lighthearted films in between so as not to enter a state of depression.
Okay, got to head to work.
Everytime someone brings up the topic of Hooter’s the conversation
follows thusly:
Dude 1: So I went by Hooter’s the other day.
Dude 2: Hehe, Hooter’s.
Dude 1: What? Its a family restaurant.
Dude 2: Why would you go to Hooter’s?
Dude 1: Oh man, have you tried their chicken wings?
I encourage you to challenge this assertion.

Yesterda, with the release of Mariokart DS ushered in the era of
mainstream mobile gaming.
So seamless, so quick and easy, so transparent and fun.
I was in a game with 3 other people worldwide within minutes of
returning home from Best Buy.
Very enjoyable.

Hey me…this is that link that you wanted.

You know when you’ve been playing too much WoW when you see “Strat” in
your day planner and think first that you have a raid, only to remember
that you should be going to your Strategic Management class.
Nothin really interesting -
First of all - I’ve started reading a lot of articles on CNN.com and different blogs, mostly all with a heavy liberal bent.
Secondly - I thought it only fair to counteract the obvious liberal bias by listeing to 870am conservative talk radio. Michael Savage is crazy.
